I rage much, I sleep little. Incongruously, I have been a union activist and simultaneously a Constitutional libertarian. I am a registered nurse, a sailor, an Army veteran, and a III%er... I am a complicated man.

The "Counterfeit Left" and the Right to Bear Arms.

Thinking Americans are known for their support of Liberty and the Right to Bear Arms. On the other hand, the "Counterfeit Left," or "Progressives" react by trying to ban firearms, and allow, and encourage the intrusion of government into their lives. But beyond the myriad of intrusions, the virtual banning of hunting, and the pursuit of government support for organizations like PETA, MAIG and the various sub genre's of the Brady Campaign, the complete disarmament of the people would be the standard.

A True Leftist has the same fears of an over reaching government as any liberty seeker.

In my view, a True Leftist would instead demand that firearm ownership be virtually compulsory, because when firearm ownership is legally 'permitted' but not legally 'mandated,' conservatives and free thinkers would naturally end up being better-armed than Leftists of all flavors...

This is partially because conservatives tend to actively support the Constitution and enjoy the rights codified within. The simple fact that those of the Left are more unlikely to pursue their Constitutional Right to Arms or enjoy firearms for their own sake ..nor seek to possess them the way conservatives do, the demand should be that firearm ownership simply be a duty of citizenship.

If I were a True Leftist, I would suggest that the argument from the Left should that the people who least enjoy firearms might actually be the most trustworthy in possessing them. And at the very least; they should be as well-armed as those who most enjoy firearms. We all agree that an intrusive government is a legitimate reason to be armed, is it not?

I see no virtue of the Counterfeit Left, the Socialist Left, or "Progressives" .. but one has to wonder; why would you ever disarm yourself in the face of all you oppose?

“I cannot see what possible pleasure can be derived from shooting. Think of the tremendous ceremony that accompanies the slaughter of a deer! And the hare is shot, not sitting, but on the run, to make his end more spectacular. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would do well to turn its attention to the sportsmen themselves. … I have never fired at a hare in my life. I am neither poacher nor sportsman.” – Adolf Hitler
