Whether your
team is the one in power or whether it's the one not in power, the one
thing all Americans have in common is the conviction that the state of
American politics is unbearably abysmal.12/3/14
If you're a fan of the President's team, you may well blame Fox News, the Koch Brothers, the previous administration, and so on. If you're NOT a fan of the President's team, you may well blame George Soros, MSNBC, you may think the President is a communist (he's not - if he were a Communist everyone who thinks like me would already be dead or in a gulag), et cetera.
Neither party will tell you you're wrong, which is convenient for them.
Now "slushie this, o my droogs"...banana republics and Middle East emirates have been blaming their own internal problems and incompetence on the United States for DECADES. And it's worked for decades.
Is there any reason such similar misdirection couldn't as easily deflect attention from our own government's bungling?
The inconvenient truth is that George Soros, the Koch Brothers, Fox News, MSNBC, et al are NOT to blame for the sorry state of American politics.
We are.
We have elected incompetent morons and continue to do so. They have squandered the public treasury and the public trust. Both parties have sold the government to crony capitalism to the degree that we'd be Italy-under-Mussolini if only the President could make the trains run on time. They have delegated their powers to the degree they can't bring the Leviathan "organs of the state" to heel, and they commit acts in the name of politics which would put any CEO in prison. They've treated their elected office as a birthright (the possibility of a Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush election ought to send every American into a blue fit), and comported themselves with all the decorum of Snooki and the "Jersey Shore" gang.
What's wrong with the US is US.
I don't know how to fix it - if I did I wouldn't tell you until after I'd already done it.
