Trump's points about illegal aliens committing crimes are ringing true. Obviously, we have issues across the culture but illegal aliens committing crimes seems to be an issue so simple that everyone except doctrinaire progressives get it...if the guy was never here, there would have been no death.
It also reveals their fecklessness about guns.
They argue that the restrictive control of guns and/or elimination of them is the way to stop gun crime, yet they can't or won't accept a similar argument for the tight regulation and/or prevention of illegal immigration.
Clearly, inviting more criminals to the US under the guise of "Sanctuary Cities" is certainly seen by any reasonable person as courting disaster. Even those trying to defend this concept sound like idiots as they try to explain away a senseless murder. There would be one more innocent alive in San Francisco today if illegal immigration was stopped. Most certainly, trading a productive life for a felonious murderer was not a good trade.
Hell, we are even told that the "undocumented" are risking life and limb to come to America to avoid just the sort of random violence we saw in San Francisco.
Trump has many faults but on this one he has struck a nerve that runs deep in America. It is resonating. He might not be everybody's cup of tea but he might well have provided a tipping point if the GOP is smart enough to run with it - and not squirm like worms on a hot rock while they apologize for standing up for the rule of law.
Trump has set the issue up on the tee, let's see who is going to hit it dead solid perfect. Christie, Rubio and Jebbie have already swung and missed. Really disappointed that Perry did, too
