I rage much, I sleep little. Incongruously, I have been a union activist and simultaneously a Constitutional libertarian. I am a registered nurse, a sailor, an Army veteran, and a III%er... I am a complicated man.

On the 'Thoughtcrime of the Day'

Michael Smith

Reading JT's peice yesterday, something that the Senate Mortician, Harry Reid said made me think. Excerpting from Sahib Taranto's peice:
"In denouncing Scalia, Reid was following the lead of the liberal media. A New York Times editorial accused Scalia of positing an “offensive premise”—never mind whether or not it is true..."
It strikes me as true that to people who delude themselves, to those who create an artificial world with an alternate reality where they are always right (which most of the time include those who practice the religion of progressivism), the facts and truth are often "hurtful" and "offensive".

Scalia's comments are true - and just as true for white kids as they are for blacks. His offense seems to have been addressing this as a "black" issue but during a discussion of affirmative action programs designed to advantage black kids, I'm not sure how you avoid directly addressing the subject.
The Daily Beast tried to shame Scalia by noting that he wasn't able to get into "top schools" and had to follow a "slower track" without noting the irony that they were actually proving his point through their "attack" on a Justice of the highest court in the land. Evidently Scalia benefited from the "slower track" he was recommending for others. Better that than going to Princeton and having to carve out a "safe space" from microaggression to compensate for a lack of achievement, I guess.
Childish and insecure radical college students are carving out micro safe spaces to protect themselves from being offended by micro-aggression. The idea behind these “spaces” is that certain ideas and beliefs need protection because they can’t survive in the wild. While these little Marxist special snowflakes and their little micro spaces are drawing a lot of media attention, they are pikers compared to another group. Creating “safe spaces” is nothing new for progressives. The true masters of the macro safe space are the chosen carrier of viral progressivism, the Democrats.
Freedom and liberty are as foreign and fatal an environment to a progressive Democrat as outer space is to a human. Just as we have of create elaborate systems to assure survival for humans in the vacuum of space, progressives must create a similar system here on the planet to protect them from the ravages of reality, truth, individual freedom, choice and self-determination. For sustained periods in space, humans created a safe space called the International Space Station. Here on Planet Earth, the Democrats created a massive safe space called “government”.
Government to a progressive is like the ISS is to an astronaut. Where the ISS replicates the general environment of our home planet by providing food, clothing and shelter for the astronaut, the government provides the basic needs of a progressive: power, other people’s money and status. These governauts have assured that they are insulated from the realities the impose on citizens by exempting themselves from the laws they pass and the regulations the promulgate.
Governauts like Harry Reid have built a protective cocoon around themselves as effective as the space station.

Best of the Web: Justice Scalia gets smeared for ‘racist ideas.’
